The six month training programme is divided into four modules:
- Introductory Course
offers the fellows a common theoretical and practical knowledge base and provides them with interdisciplinary training and understanding of physical, biological, socio-economical and cultural aspect of environmental issues. - Excursions
introduce the land degradation problems of Iceland and how they have been approached in a historic perspective. The fellows will have an opportunity to discuss these problems with the experts working on implementing restoration plans in different parts of the country. - Specialized training
offers specialization with reference to their academic and practical background and needs. The specialized training consists of two modules: -
- Specialized course
- Individual project work
To successfully finish the UNU-LRT Programme every fellow has to finish a written scientific report (in English) that will be published. Each fellow then presents orally his/her project by the end of the programme.
